Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, and what we will never do with it.

HRISHQ ("HRISHQ", "we", "us") runs a private, application-only community for HR professionals. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to this website and every part of the community.

The short version

We never sell, rent or trade member information. We do not hand your name, email, phone number, company or software stack to software vendors, resellers, advertisers or sponsors. Your details are used to verify you, run the community, and contact you about HRISHQ.

1. Information we collect

  • Application details — your name, work email, phone number, employer, job title, company size, industry, LinkedIn profile, the HR system you use, whether you are willing to act as a peer reference, and the local chapter you request.
  • Account and profile details — anything you add or change in your settings, and your notification preferences.
  • Content you create — forum posts and replies, chapter posts and comments, reviews, reference responses, service and class requests, and messages you send us.
  • Technical information — log data such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed and timestamps, collected to keep the site secure and working.

2. How we use it

  • Reviewing and verifying your application by hand, including checking LinkedIn.
  • Creating and running your account, and keeping the community members-only.
  • Placing you in your local chapter and running chapter announcements, feeds and events.
  • Connecting members who ask for a peer reference with companies who volunteered for that software — we share your details for a reference only because you opted in, and you can withdraw at any time in your settings.
  • Sending transactional notices, community notifications, digests, and occasional news about HRISHQ services and classes.
  • Responding to requests, preventing abuse, and meeting legal obligations.

3. Communications

When you apply or hold an account, you consent to receive messages from us at the email address and phone number you provide. These include administrative messages about your application and account, community notifications, and occasional updates about HRISHQ. Message and data rates may apply to text messages.

You can turn community and marketing messages off at any time in your account notification settings or through the unsubscribe link in any email. Messages required to operate your account — approval decisions, security notices, changes to our terms — continue while your account is active. Full details are in section 3 of our Terms of Service.

4. What we share, and what we never share

We never sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only:

  • With other members, by design — your name, job title, employer and the content you post are visible to verified members in the community and in your chapter. Do not post anything you would not want other members to see.
  • With service providers — the vendors that host our site, database and email delivery, bound to protect the data and use it only to provide those services.
  • When you ask us to — for example, a peer-reference introduction, a service request, or an introduction you request to a consultant or broker.
  • When legally required — to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights and safety of HRISHQ or others.
  • In a business transfer — if HRISHQ is acquired or merged, with the same protections carried forward.

5. Your rights and choices

  • Review and update most of your details in your account settings at any time.
  • Control which emails you receive from your notification settings.
  • Request a copy of your information, a correction, or deletion of your account and data by emailing us. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — such as the right to know, delete, correct, or opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you are welcome to confirm that with us.

Deleting your account removes your profile from the community. Posts and replies may remain in place in anonymized form so existing discussions stay readable, unless you ask us to remove them.

6. Data retention and security

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as long as needed for the purposes above, to resolve disputes and to meet legal obligations. Denied applications are retained for a limited period so we can handle re-applications and appeals. We use industry-standard safeguards including encrypted connections, access controls and row-level database permissions, but no system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Cookies

We use cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences and understand basic site usage. We do not run third-party advertising trackers. You can block cookies in your browser, but parts of the site, including signing in, will stop working.

8. Children

HRISHQ is a professional community intended for adults. It is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or an on-site notice, and the revised policy applies once it takes effect.
